Sensics has been making virtual reality goggles for over a decade. The company was started with technology developed at Johns Hopkins University through a research grant from Honda. The goal was to create virtual reality goggles that Honda could use to design cars – especially the interiors, to feel what it would be like inside the cars before they built them. Serial entrepreneur Yuval Boger joined the team as chief executive after the founders licensed the idea from Johns Hopkins.
